I recently started doing embroidery and learned by doing any free pattern I could get my hands on. After I got the hang of the different stitches I wanted to start making embroidery patterns that I could send the finished product to my friends and family. One of the first things I knew I wanted to make was a dragonfly but I wanted to make it my own. This pattern uses 5 different stitches and is a project that could be done in a few hours of stitching.
To complete this pattern you will need the following supplies:
Dragonfly Pattern (see link at the bottom of the page)
7-inch embroidery hoop
6 colors of embroidery floss
Linen Fabric
Embroidery needle
For this pattern, I used a tan linen fabric. I love the way this fabric looks when the hoop is finished. For the colors, I used a dark green, light green, grey, teal, and light pink floss. To finish off the hoop I used felt for the backing and I stained the hoop to give it a more rustic finish.
This was the first pattern I created and it turned out better than I could have imagined. Click below to download the PDF file for this pattern. Hope you enjoy stitching this dragonfly!
