Last year was the year of weddings for my friend group. My husband and I got married along with two of his best friends. All three of our weddings were unique to each of the couples. I wanted to make an embroidery pattern that I could tailor to each of my friend's wedding colors. All three of us took our husband's last names and I also wanted to incorporate our new last names into the pattern. Below is the pattern that I created.
I used a metallic floss for the geometric shape on the outline. This was is kind of hard to work with. I practiced on a scrap piece of fabric to find the easiest way to use it. I found that you had to work with all 6 of the strands and make sure you are holding it on the back, tight, before your next stitch. This could easily be changed to a non-metallic floss according to your preference. The colors are so easily customizable and would be a great wedding or anniversary gift for a friend.
The pattern comes in two different pages. The first page is the embroidery pattern and the second page is pre-sized letters and numbers. This way, you can print out the letters and trace them onto your pattern. I used a backstitch for the letters and french knots between the numbers for the date in the finished hoop in the picture below.
This pattern uses five different stitches and would be a good pattern for a beginner. Stitching time for this pattern is about two and a half hours
To complete this pattern you will need the following supplies:
Pattern (see link at the bottom of the page)
7-inch embroidery hoop
Up to 7 colors of embroidery floss
Linen fabric
Embroidery needle
This pattern was so much fun! I loved looking back on the photos of my friend's weddings to choose the colors of floss. I will be sending them the finished hoops soon and hope they enjoy their anniversary keepsakes.
